Airy3D has developed the world’s first passive single sensor solution for 3D computer vision. Airy3D’s unique solution requires only one camera component and no active lighting system, eliminating the need for multiple components, such as dual cameras or cameras equipped with active lighting systems for depth detection.

The company’s passive light-field recovery technologies, which were first invented at Cornell University, do not sacrifice battery life or image quality, but bring forward unparalleled depth to each image. In addition to changing the game with smartphones, the technology can also be used in autonomous vehicles, augmented reality/virtual reality, security and robotics.

The company is based in Montreal and its other investors include Intel Capital, CRCM Ventures, WI Harper Group, Robert Bosch Venture Capital, Nautilus Venture Partners and TandemLaunch.
